One of my favourite festivals is back again, it’s got to be one of the friendliest coolest festivals on the circuit, completely laid back & no corporate money grubbing bastards to be seen. You can actually afford to buy food & beer at this one without getting a mortgage. ¬†Gets my vote every time & it’s in the North West.

Here’s what’s on offer this year:-

Strummercamp 2013Now in its eighth successive year, Strummercamp Festival in South Manchester remains totally independant and run on a not for profit basis..As well as many local and touring bands of wide ranging musical styles; Punk, Ska, Rockabilly, Folk, Blues, Soul, over the years our line ups have included THE DAMNED, BILLY BRAGG, THE ALARM, NEW MODEL ARMY, THE MEN THEY COULDN’T HANG, THE JIM JONES REVUE, THE SELECTER, THE BEAT, THE BLOCKHEADS,GENO WASHINGTON, GOLDBLADE, SPEAR OF DESTINY,UK SUBS, THE POPES, THE MAHONES, NECK, CHAMELEONS VOX, ATTILA THE STOCKBROKER, TYMON DOGG, HUGH CORNWELL, TV SMITH, THE STUPIDS, MEMBERS OF THE MESCALERO’S AND LOTS MORE.. Averaging around 70 acts each year, all contained within the grounds of Manchester Rugby Club in Cheadle Hulme..Nominated numerous times for the best small/roots festival in the UK Festival awards, shortlisted several times, described as ‘the friendliest festival around’, and run with a very personal D.I.Y. ethic.. With the venue clubhouse and bar open all weekend and covered marquees, the weather is no threat to this event! There’s something for everyone at Strummercamp, very child friendly, secure, amazing intimate atmosphere, normal pub prices for beer and food, no rip offs!! We’re very proud of our little festival and the people who make it such a special weekend (24-26 May, Bank holiday weekend) … Still rooted in the original idea of a fitting tribute to the late Joe Strummer, hopefully reflecting a lot of what he and the Clash were about.. Very reasonably priced tickets are available now from http://www.strummercampfestival.co.uk, which include free parking and camping..

The Undertones will play one of only 4 British dates , Strummercamp being the only one in the north.

  • The Men They Couldn’t Hang come fresh off a massively successful tour with Stiff Little Fingers..
  • The Beat return for the 3rd time, Neville Staple for his second time.
  • The Three Johns make a very special rare appearance..

Indoor all day stages from Manchester Independant label, promoters,TNS and also ABSOLUTELY SPANNERED with late night aftershows presented by Punx Inna Jungle.. Showcase from promoters NOTHING BUT.. Acoustic outdoor stage, BEING AN INDEPENDANT , NOT FOR PROFIT EVENT RUN BY VOLUNTEERS, WE REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP WITH PROMOTING ETC… If you’re up[ for helping get in touch via the website.
